Waffle House

“You should eat a waffle! You can’t be sad if you eat a waffle!”
― Lauren Myracle

I believe almost every college student, or student period, has had the luxury of visiting this restaurant. All you have to do is say the phrase, “All-star special.” Those words are like precious gold in the Waffle-House world. The all-star special is the most popular meal.

I’m sure almost every college student has been, because it is the hot spot after the parties, football games, or even just for a late night meal. It is convenient for students because it is cheap and a local social place.

There are so many mixed reviews about Waffle House. Some people say that the workers are rude and it never gets cleaned because it is open 24 hours. However, I’ve never been to a Waffle House that hasn’t cleaned the table well before I sat down. I make sure it is clean. Also, there are rude workers everywhere, not just waffle house. There are many sweet, energetic workers at Waffle House.

Now, back to the All-Star special. It comes with eggs, toast, your choice of meat (bacon, sausage, or ham) and your choice of grits or hash brown, all for about $7.50. It is my go to every time.

Even though I think the All-Star special is the best thing, there are many others that like the other combos that waffle house has. They have breakfast sandwiches, burgers, steak, etc. I believe it is the best breakfast place in existence. However, the only drawback is, there isn’t a waffle house in San Marcos. The closest Waffle House is in Austin, Texas.

“A sandwich is almost like a perfect puzzle.” – Jeff Hardey

I’m almost positive that everyone has heard of one of the fastest growing franchises in America. Subway has been around since 1955. They are known to be on the healthier side of foods. They are known for their different varieties of sandwiches. Additionally, they sell salads, pizzas, wraps, soups, etc.

A photo of the sandwich menu from Subway from the internet.

Subway has a lot of different options for breads, toppings, meats, sauces, etc. Their breads include: white, wheat, Italian, honey oat, flatbread, etc. They inform you of the calories each bread has. My personal favorite is the Italian Herb and Cheese. For their meats, they have turkey breast, ham, chicken breast, roast beef, tuna, turkey salami, beefsteak, bacon, meatballs, pepperoni, Genoa salami, turkey bologna and shaved steak. The toppings include your typical sandwich ingredients. My go to toppings are spinach and lettuce.

It is hard for me to narrow all of the sandwiches down to my favorite, but if I had to choose one, it would be the Italian B.M.T. This sandwich consists of Genoa Salami, spicy pepperoni, and black forest ham. I get my sandwich toasted, then I add spinach, lettuce, mayo, and salt and pepper.

My favorite soup is the chicken noodle soup. However, I often try the soup of the day. The pizzas are kind of like the sandwiches. You add your meats, then add the toppings you want on top of it. My favorite type of pizzas were the “flatizzas” that they sold. They were sold on top of flat bread and were absolutely delicious. They are a limited time item, so when they come back make sure to look out for them.

After you go through the line, making your perfect meal, there’s these little things staring at you at the cash register. They are so hard to pass up. The cookies are the most tempting part of the meal. The worker can heat it up for you so you can eat it right there on the spot. I think it is worth it because the rest of your meal is healthy for the most part.

Subway should be a no-brainier. It is healthy, convenient, inexpensive, and has many different varieties. Eat good food, you deserve it.
