the beast of burgers

“Man who invented the hamburger was smart; man who invented the cheeseburger was a genius.”

– Matthew McConaughey

Last weekend, my best friend and I were contemplating on what we wanted to eat. We were super hungry and realized we didn’t want anything ordinary. It was a gorgeously bright day, the sky was a brilliant light blue and there was a slight breeze. We decided to hop in the mustang and let the top down to see where our stomachs would lead us. After evaluating the area, we saw Popeyes, Wendy’s , Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Pizza Hut, and Golden Chick. However, none of the options were appealing to us because we always eat them. After about 5 more minutes of trying to decide, my stomach started talking to me.

As we kept driving around, we found a tannish cafe by the name of The Coach’s Box. I remember the outside of the cafe had pictures of all the foods they serve. There was a burger, fried wings, catfish, baked chicken breast, barbecue links, baked potato, tacos, etc. My best friend and I eyes lit up because it was new and had many items for us to chose from. As we walked in, we were greeted by a sweet woman who asked us if we wanted to dine in or carry out. We didn’t have anything planned for later on, so we sat down and enjoyed the service.

The menu had so many options, but I decided to get a cheeseburger basket. My best friend got original fried wings with hot sauce and french fries on the side. The burger and wing basket took approximately fifteen minutes to come out. We asked for the two meals to come out in a to-go container just in case we didn’t finish it all. Our waitress asked what we wanted to drink, but recommended the kool-aid. I usually drink water with all of my meals, but I let that day be my cheat day.

As I opened the box, to my surprise a thick piece of tender beef was centered perfectly with a melted piece of cheese on top. I added bacon to my burger to add a little flavor. They placed a good amount of mayo and lettuce; also, the bun was buttered and toasted. The french fries were crisp band seasoned well. After examining the whole burger, I was ready to devour it.

It was love at the first bite. I purposely took a big bite of the burger to indulge all of the flavors at once. Next thing I knew, my burger and my french fries disappeared within 3 minutes. I didn’t talk, look up, or drink anything before I finished. I had totally forgot about the kool-aid, but I will never forget it again. It was cold, sweet and delicious. By the time I finished my meal and drink, my best friend had did the same. I was looking forward to trying one of her chicken wings, but I guess I was moving too slow for her. She said they were very tasty though, so guess what I did?

I went back the next day to get a chicken wing basket. The feelings I had for the chicken wings were equivalent to the ones I had for the burger. I wasn’t able to eat it as fast because I drank the kool-aid while I was eating. I told you’ll I won’t forget it again. 😉

Overall, I think the Coach’s Box is a great restaurant. They have many varieties of food. If you want something that tastes good, then everything on the menu is an option. And don’t worry, for my healthy eaters, they have wonderful turkey burgers, grilled chicken breast, salads, etc. Anything that you desire, they have it or have something very similar to it.

The opportunity I am presenting to you is hard to pass up. There aren’t many places that serve all different kinds of foods, have great service, cater to functions, and is convenient. All I’m asking is for you to trust me and give them a try. I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Once you try them out, leave comments and tell me what you thought of the food. Or leave a comment telling me what meal I should try next. I am open to try all new things. Treat yourself with good food, you deserve it!

The Recipe to Me

Hi there, welcome to Here’s the Scoop! I’m Kennedy Taylor: currently a sophomore at Texas State University, now a full-time blogger. I am a native of Dallas, Texas. I am currently majoring in journalism and mass communications with a minor in business management. I have aspirations to work in the athletic realm and become an entrepreneur. I am currently a member of the women’s basketball team at Texas State. In my free time, I enjoy sleeping, hanging out, and most importantly, eating.

Ever since I grew teeth, I’ve always had a fascination for food. If cooked to perfection, I eat every food you can think of: Italian Cuisine, Mexican food, Cajun food, soul food, Chinese food, American food, etc. The part I enjoy most about food is the different varieties. Every dish is unique in its own way. Different foods should be consumed in different circumstances.

In this space, I will be sharing different foods I’d eat at a restaurant. Also, I will discuss foods that I’m not as fond of in the fast food world. I will be respectful, but share my honest opinion with you. My goal is to inspire you with food that is delicious, easily accessible, and overall inexpensive. I am excited to be able to share my experiences with you. I hope you enjoy following Here’s the Scoop! as much as I’m going to enjoy writing it!
