“I can’t stay away from Chinese food. I really love that stuff.” -Shaun White
Growing up, my family has always been a out-to-eat type of family. We ate at a different place every night. It also carried over to my friends, every time we would hang out, we would use our parents money to go out to eat.
On December 14, 2018, my I had a life-changing experience. My best friend had a dinner party at Akita Hibachi Sushi Grill and Bar. I had never been there before so I didn’t know what to expect. My parents gave me some money and told me it was basically Chinese food. I was excited because Chinese food was my favorite food. When I arrived, all of my closest friends were there. We sat down and waited for our waiter to ask us for our drinks. As we waited, I scanned the menu. The menu had a large variety of things. I didn’t know where to start. When it comes to Chinese food, I like the basics: fried rice, shrimp, and chicken. I looked at the menu to find the closest thing to that. I wound up ordering a combination fried rice with extra shrimp. The prices were more than what I was used to for Chinese food, but I didn’t mind because it was my parents money.
As we all ordered our food, our waiter later came out with our drinks and appetizers. Approximately 5 minutes later, a man with white apron and white hat stood in front of us. He proceeded to let us know that he would be preparing our meal. I was confused because I’ve never had a cook come out of the kitchen to introduce themselves to me. Instead of going back in the kitchen, he turned on the light in front of us. To my surprise it was a grill! The chef sprayed down the grill and started preparing all of our meals. He did many tricks with the food to keep us entertained. I was thrilled! I loved the entertainment portion. I just hoped the food tasted half as good.
Now, the moment everybody had been waiting for, the food was now ready to eat. Most people ordered relatively the same thing, but others got sushi, different types of rices and meats, etc. I took one bite of my combination fried rice, and it didn’t disappoint me at all. I kept my head down until I was too full. The amount of food that I had left was shocking. I usually eat all of my food, but they had some big portions and the appetizers were delicious.
Every time I go to Akita, I try to get something different, but still similar to the combination fried rice. Overall, the meals I get are mostly healthy. It is usually always a vegetable in the meals. I would 100% recommend Akita Hibachi Grill and Bar! Eat good food, you deserve it!
