blaze pizza

I love pizza. I want to marry it. -Mike Birbiglia

I had the luxury of trying Blaze Pizza for the first time this weekend. My parents came down to San Marcos to watch one of my friend’s volleyball games. Between the games, we wanted to try something new that wasn’t going to be too heavy on our stomachs. We’d heard that Blaze Pizza was like Mod’s Pizza, which I happened to love.

We walked into Blaze with a confused look on all of our faces. I’m assuming the girl behind the counter noticed, so she began to guide us through the whole process. She explained that the most popular was the “build your own” because you pick your choice of bread and add anything you want on there for the same price.

After that news, all of our eyes lit up. We all started to order but all of our orders were different because we all have different preferences. My mother was the first to order. She tries to be healthy, so she ordered a thin crust pizza with chicken and sausage only. However, she put pretty much every vegetable they had on there. Her pizza was stacked with a lot on it, but would probably have a fourth of the calories I was going to have on my pizza.

On the other hand, my younger brother is a very simple guy. He also ordered the thin crust and added sausage and pepperoni. I taunted him because his was plain; he hated to try new things.

Even though my brother was a simple guy, I was the complete opposite. I started a new trend by getting the thick crust. The lady told me it would be more calories, but I told her I wasn’t like my mom and wasn’t really concerned with that. I continued to make myself a meat lovers pizza, I had sausage, bacon, and pepperoni. I wouldn’t have been the athlete that I am without getting something green on my pizza, so I added spinach and mushrooms. On top of that, I let the woman preparing the pizza talk me into getting some type of garlic sauce. My pizza was huge and it was the best-looking pizza I had ever seen. I couldn’t wait for it to come out of the oven.

Comparatively, my twin, otherwise known as my dad, still had to order. We are identical when it comes to food and trying new things. He went the thin crust route, but he also decided to go with the meat lovers pizza. Unlike any of us, he got all of the meats: sausage, bacon, ham, pepperoni, and the meatballs. For his other toppings, he got jalapenos, bell peppers, spinach, and oregano. His pizza was so big that the lady had trouble putting it all together. To be honest, his pizza looked better than mine, but I wasn’t going to let him know that.

My pizza was as good as it looked. I struggled finishing half, considering all of the stuff I had on it. I took the rest of my pizza home. My brother finished all of his scrawny pizza. However, my mom and my dad didn’t finish theirs, so I begged for their leftovers. My dad willingly gave me his pizza, but I had to work on my mom. My argument was that I am a college student, leftovers are like my best friend. After lots of pleading, my mom wound up giving me the rest of her food. Once I put the pizza in the oven a day later, it was just as good as it was the day I got it. I would 100% recommend Blaze Pizza. Eat good food, you deserve it!
